About MBA Alumni Association
1.

What is MBAAA?

2.

Who are responsible for the MBAAA operations?

In the past, MBAAA was operated by a group of voluntary alumni who formed the Executive Committee (Exco). The Exco members carried out all the operational and administrative functions of the MBAAA.

With the establishment of MBA Alumni Development Office (ADO) under HKUST Business School in 2004, ADO has been providing assistance in part of MBAAA's daily operations and administrative functions to allow Exco members to be more focused on organizing members' activities, taking care of members' needs and wishes, and better shaping the association. ADO also maintains the member database and MBAAA website on behalf of MBAAA.

3.

What are the different roles played by MBAAA and ADO?

MBAAA is an independent association registered under the Societies Ordinance of Hong Kong SAR. It was founded by a group of voluntary alumni with the motto "Uniting Successful Talents" (a different notion of "UST"). The Exco members were elected by Members to perform the mission set forth in accordance to the Constitution.

Alumni Development Office (ADO) is an MBA unit under the Dean's office of HKUST Business School. It is responsible for all alumni affairs with a primary goal to strengthen the affiliation between alumni and the School. It also formulates strategies for alumni development worldwide and work closely with other MBA teams on marketing, admissions and career development to ensure the Program stays at the top.

While administrated independently, MBAAA and ADO share a joint mission to create an alumni culture that adds value to both alumni and the School through various alumni activities.

4.

How does MBAAA fund its activities and operations?

Funding for MBAAA activities and operations comes from membership fees, sponsorships from the School and various external parties. With limited resources, most of the MBAAA events are self-financed. Event charges are based on the cost recovery principle, with a discount for MBAAA members. MBAAA aims to utilize all the monies appropriately for the mutual benefits of our members.

5.
